Harddisk

Instead of investing in SETI Project or putting effort into Human Proteome Folding Project, I guess people should research on faster storages (e.g Harddisks) for personal computers. The Harddisk throughput problem is the most important issue I have with all of my computers.

Finally after 3 month, I managed to install FreeBSD 5.2 on my laptop.

Right after installation I cvsuped to the latest code and re-built the world. Now I have 5.3-STABLE running on my HP Pavilion.

As I expected, most of my hardware were not recognized. First thing was my built-in broadcom wireless interface. The only way to make it work is using NDISulator and install broadcom windows drivers. I haven't tried it yet, but I guess it is not a stable piece of software yet.

Another thing I should try to setup is my built-in memory card reader.

Once I finished the setup, I will come up with a installation how-to (like the one I made for my old LifeBook C1020).

BTW: Happy 2005!
