A Geeky New Year
I had this text file saved on my desktop for 3 months, looking for a free time to blog and show you this funny thing. This has happened during Norouz (Persian New Year) holidays when I was doing something in one of our routers:
core-bb1# *** *** *** Message from tty227 to all terminals: *** Happy New Year! core-bb1# core-bb1#conf te Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z. core-bb1(config)#n *** *** *** Message from tty227 to all terminals: *** Baba to Eidam ro routeri! core-bb1(config)#^Z
A friend of mine has spotted me logged into a router while everyone else was in hurry to get ready for new year. Kinda cool! It was the best HNY message I’ve received during Norouz.
Update: If that message looks non-sense to you, its because the message is in persian. It reads “You are in router, even on Norooz holiday!”.
Java Applets
While Java is a lovely platform for many developers, I hate it from a user point of view.
Its awfuly slow when an applet is being loaded in web browser, doesn’t matter if its IE or Firefox or whatever. The SUN JRE is very unstable and slow. (Yes, I have the latest JRE. Yes, I have a fast computers with too much memory. And again, Yes, its the same on all my computers).
This led me to disable Java in my browser for now. And I believe I am not losing anything by taking this decision. However I feel much better when browsing web.

Network Profile Manager
When I first saw Windows XP some years ago, one of the most important feature that I was expecting, was a Network Profile feature like OS X.
Sometimes I wonder how people are living without such important feature.
I personally should change IP addresses several times a day (in home, at office, …) which causes me headache. Even worse, there is no such well-integrated and easy to use third-party software is available for this reason.
Sometimes I realize that the Aqua interface is not the only reason people love Mac, but such small and handy features are making OS X such a convenient and easy to use environment.
